ABOUT THE LESSON: Who doesn't love baking and decorating Christmas cookies? This craft engages kids' imaginations as they go through the motions of 'baking' a giant gingerbread man! They'll discuss the method, flavors, and decorations they choose to 'bake' their gingerbread man using all kinds of materials found at home. SUPERSKILLS: Sensory: This involves using the senses of touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste. All these senses work together for overall sensory functioning. Bilateral Function: This skill is activated when children use both their left and right hands to complete a task. There are plenty of opportunities to use this skill when decorating (holding their gingerbread man with one hand while sticking, stuffing, coloring, and painting with the other).
