Jumping Bunnies

About

ABOUT THE LESSON: This lesson is great to teach children about elasticity and force in a fun and adorable way! It is so important for a child's development for them to engage and learn about concepts in a variety of subjects. This stimulates their curiosity and encourages them to ask questions. In this lesson, children get the opportunity to learn as well as make a fun toy. SUPERSKILLS: Problem solving: identifying a problem and then inventing or discovering an appropriate solution. The kids will have to do a lot of problem solving in this craft while creating their jumping bunnies. They will have to figure out how to securely connect the ears, whiskers and other attachments, as well as how to engineer the elastics to make their bunnies jump. Fine-motor skills: using the smaller muscle groups in our hands and fingers to grip by performing finger oppositions and extending and flexing our fingers during an activity. This becomes a major focus in this craft when the kids are creating finer details. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Use what you have and be creative: x2 Paper cups/toilet rolls Glue, tape or stapler x2 Rubber bands Scissors Thick white/coloured paper Permanent marker or pen Colouring supplies: sharpies, colouring pencils, pastel crayons, markers Paint supplies: watercolour paint/tempera watercolour cakes, water in a bowl, paint brush Cotton ball or felt ball for a tail Pipe cleaners for whiskers
