ABOUT THE LESSON: Monsters can take all shapes and forms. By talking about monsters that are cute and friendly, we can help children feel like they don't need to be afraid of them. Animated movies like Monsters Inc. and Monsters vs. Aliens have already helped with this. Let's continue to alleviate kids' fears by creating some super adorable monsters in today's lesson! SUPERSKILLS: Bilateral Function: This is the body's ability to use both sides equally while engaging in an activity, usually with the hands or feet. This will be practiced throughout today's lesson as the children use one hand to hold and the other to paint, stick, push, thread, trace, or play. Free Play: In this lesson, the children are given the chance to play freely with their creations in all kinds of different and creative ways. Free play encourages children to think creatively and use their imaginations. It also stimulates the production of feel-good hormones and encourages bonding between friends.
