About

ABOUT THE LESSON: If you’ve ever looked at a photo of a real snowflake, you’ll notice how complex and detailed it is. This is especially amazing when you think about how tiny they are. Did you know that each snowflake is unique? In this lesson, we're going to make our own unique snowflakes. SUPERSKILLS: Fine-motor coordination: when one uses the smaller intrinsic muscle groups of the hands to perform or engage in an activity with controlled movements. The children will practice this skill while they are folding, cutting, decorating, and sticking their snowflakes. They will be having fun whilst strengthening the tiny muscles in their hands. Focus: This craft requires much focus. Zoning in and focusing on a task helps to engage the children and improve their attention spans. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Use what you have and be creative: Doilies, scrap paper, paper cupcake liners, coffee filters. Wool/yarn/ribbon Scissors Colouring supplies: wax crayons, markers. Decorations: foam sheets, feathers, pompoms, paper straws, beads, etc. Paint supplies: tempera watercolor cakes/watercolor paint, water in a bowl, paintbrush
