Gliding Gremlin

About

ABOUT THE LESSON: Why do you land on the ground when you jump up instead of floating off into space?   The answer is gravity: a mysterious and invisible force that pulls objects toward each other. Earth's gravity is what keeps you on the ground and what makes our gremlins come back down after reaching the top, instead of just traveling higher and higher.   Besides keeping us from flying off into the air, why is gravity important? The sun’s gravity keeps the earth in orbit around the sun. Life on earth needs sunlight to survive. Gravity also helps the earth to stay just the right distance from the sun, so that we are not too hot or too cold.
