ABOUT THE LESSON: Batman, Superman, Iron Man, Teen Titans Go, The Incredibles... Who is your favourite superhero? Superheroes play a unique role in a child's life, often becoming a role model who can show them right from wrong. From reading comic books to watching movies, we all have our favourite, and what could be better than creating your own at home? In this lesson, children will have the opportunity to discuss and create their own superheroes and decide what their superpowers and costumes will be. SUPERSKILLS: Imagination: This craft is all about imagination and creativity. Encourage kids to come up with their own ideas. Fine-motor coordination: when you use the smaller intrinsic muscle groups in your hands to perform or engage in an activity with controlled movements. You can never be too old to practice fine-motor coordination. This project is loaded with detailed work. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Use what you have and be creative: A3 Recycled cardboard A3 White paper Scissors Utility knife Thick tape Ruler Black pen/marker Paint Supplies: Watercolour/tempera paint, bowl of water, paintbrush Colouring supplies: sharpies, colour pencils, pastel crayons or permanent markers Decorations: Scraps of fabric, felt, foam sheets, coloured paper, stickers
