About
ABOUT THE LESSON: This lesson is a hit—literally and figuratively speaking! :-) In this lesson, we are going to make a colorful bat using a variety of materials and fine motor skills (threading, punching, sticking, and coloring). Then, we're going to burn some energy and have fun hitting a balloon in the air using our newly created bats! SUPERSKILLS: Hand-Eye Coordination: This is the ability to perform movements with the hands while being guided by the eyes. A child’s hands and sight work together to perform tasks. Sports are a popular way to practice this skill, and in this lesson, we are going to combine a 'sport' with a creative activity to make a fun beach bat game. Fine Motor Coordination: These skills are especially crucial because the ability to use the smaller muscles in the hands allows children to perform self-care tasks without assistance. In this lesson, there is a strong focus on practicing fine motor skills, including threading, punching, sticking, and coloring.
