ABOUT THE LESSON: In this lesson we are going to create a fun puppet toy that will open up a world of imaginative and open-ended PLAY! Kids are naturally drawn to puppet play. These puppets are sure to engage and entertain your students. They will have tons of FUN whilst growing and learning in several key areas of development! SUPERSKILLS: Language Development: Language and literacy skills will be developed during and after class. The children will tap into their imaginations and start creating their own stories. You will also notice that playing with these hand made puppets will help children develop their speaking as well as listening skills. WHAT YOU'LL NEED Scissors Cheap or recycled sock Paint supplies: Watercolor paint/ Tempera watercolor cakes, water in a bowl, paint brush Eyes: made out of felt, foamsheets, buttons, beads, bottle caps or googly eyes Hair: Wool/ Yarn or string Small amount of stuffing, scraps of paper or bubble wrap Embroidery needle or pipe cleaner Glue gun Dowel stick, PVC pipe, stick or bamboo stick Paper cup or plastic recycled bottle Cardboard and tape/ or you can use your hand
